It is an inorganic compound with the chemical name AlB2. It’s an inorganic chemical compound that has the formula AlB2. It is a solid gray-red color that is insoluble at room and pressure. It loses the surface gloss when heated. It is stable in cold dilute acids, and then quickly decomposes in hot hydrochloric acid or nitric.
The mixture of fine powdered aluminium and boron is used to make this compound, which then reacts with heat. Aluminum Boride (or AlB12) is one of two compounds that are made from aluminum or boron.
Reacting aluminum boride to acid or hydrogen with oxygen can lead to dangerous gasses. To release borane and aluminum chloride, aluminum boride reacts with hydrochloric Acid.

AlB2 can be made by reacting two elements above 600. These are the layers where Al atoms directly overlap. Al atoms directly overlap creating a triangle column. A, A, and B are the three boron layers. These two Al atoms contain the boron layer. Very similar is the graphite-like structure that the boron layer’s graphite layers have. Interconnected boron molecules form a hexagonal network. Every B atom is located 0.173 nm from each of the three other B-atoms. A further six Al-atoms can be connected to B. They are found in the upper portion of the triangular section. AlB2 can be dispersed in dilute hydrochloric and reductive solutions. AlB2 can’t be dissolved in dilute sulfuric but it is easily dissolved when dissolved into nitric. AlB2 decomposed AlB12 at 920.

AlB2 single-crystal displays metallic conductivity parallel with the hexagonal basis plan. Boron can be described as aluminum composite aluminum with boron and/or a protective coating of the boron. Boron fibre averages between 45 and 55 percent in volume. Boron fibre has an excellent specific gravity, and good mechanical properties. This composite has a unidirectional reinforcement of boron with aluminum. It also has a longitudinal strength at 1.21.7GPa. You can adjust the elastic modulus depending on how it was made. The specific strengths of titanium alloy duralumin and alloy steel are respectively 35 and 34 at the longitudinal level. It has an extremely high resistance to fatigue and a very strong limit of 400.
It has been used successfully on turbojet engine fan blades as well as aerospace structural parts and artificial satellites. The hot pressing diffusion bond is used for manufacturing profile plates and parts. To produce various profile types, continuous casting can be used.
